Senate Meeting, March 14th, 2011 minutes
Agenda:
- Teacher Appreciation Day: Thursday, May 5th
- HSPE encouragement
- St. Patrick’s day bake sale
HSPE testing, 3/15-17/11 for Sophomores
- We’d like to offer snacks, based on parent donations, for the sophomores taking the test on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Granola bars, fruit, etc.
- Science test will be 4/12
- Will anyone volunteer to make a sign today for the snack volunteers? Does someone have a free period to do this in?
- You may bring for testing: a book/magazine, thesaurus and dictionary for testing, #2 pencil(s)
- August 8th and 9th for makeup testing. Do not show up late or you are in jeopardy for needing to makeup your testing.
St. Patrick’s day bake sale:
- Will take place March 17th during lunch
- A unanimous concensus to approve the bake sale based on the members present
- Reminder, lunch takes place from 11:30 to 12 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week
- If there are leftovers, senate has also approved to allow selling of the baked goods after school on Thursday
Treasurers meeting with Ms. Libby
- Tuesdays after school was the time slot offered by Ms. Libby to have all the class treasurers meet with her to go over the finances
- The treasurers will talk with Ms. Libby to arrange a meeting with her before next Friday, 3/25
Class meetings for elections of new senate officers
- We should have a community/class meeting schedule so that we can talk with our classes about the new senate officers for class reps as well as any positions that are not currently being filled. (Either the 23rd of 30th.)
Alex’s fundraiser for Japan relief:
- Alex would like to have a fundraiser for Japan earthquake relief. Ms. Wyn will check the rules and regulations for proper procedures when having a fundraiser for an outside organization.
- We will proceed with paperwork and specifics during a small meeting during lunch today to figure out how to get approval.
- (Update: we are unable to have a fundraiser for an outside organization, however, we could use our allotted $1000 from Penny Harvest towards a Japan relief organization.)
Teacher Appreciation Week
- The first week of May is the teacher appreciation week. We will discuss the as the week approaches.
